恭读圣保禄宗徒致格林多人前书 1:26-31
弟兄们！你们看看你们是怎样蒙召的：按肉眼来看，你们中有智慧的人并不多，有权势的人也不多，显贵的人也不多；天主偏召选了世上愚妄的，为羞辱那有智慧的；召选了世上懦弱的，为羞辱那坚强的；甚而天主召选了世上卑贱的和受人轻视的，以及那些一无所有的，为消灭那些有的，为使一切有血肉的人，在天主前无所夸耀。你们得以结合于基督耶稣内，全是由于天主，也是由于天主，基督成了我们的智慧、正义、圣化者和救赎者，正如经上所记载的：“凡要夸耀的，应因主而夸耀。”
Reading 1
A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians 1:26-31
Consider your own calling, brothers and sisters.
Not many of you were wise by human standards,
not many were powerful,
not many were of noble birth.
Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise,
and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong,
and God chose the lowly and despised of the world,
those who count for nothing,
to reduce to nothing those who are something,
so that no human being might boast before God.
It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus,
who became for us wisdom from God,
as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,
so that, as it is written,
Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord.

那时，耶稣对门徒讲了这个比喻：“天国有如一个要远行的人，将自己的仆人叫来，把财产托付给他们；按照他们的才能，一个给了五个‘塔冷通’，一个给了两个，一个给了一个；然后动身走了。那领了五个‘塔冷通’的，立刻去用来营业，另外赚了五个。同样，那领了两个的，也赚了另外两个。但是那领了一个的，却去掘开地，把主人的银子藏了。过了多时，仆人的主人回来了，便与他们算账。那领了五个‘塔冷通’的上前来，呈上另外五个‘塔冷通’说：主啊！你曾交给我五个‘塔冷通’，看，我赚了另外五个‘塔冷通’。主人对他说：好！善良忠信的仆人，你既在少许事上忠信，我必委派你管理许多大事：进入你主人的福乐吧！那领了两个‘塔冷通’的也前来说：主啊！你曾交给我两个‘塔冷通’，看，我赚了另外两个‘塔冷通’。主人对他说：好！善良忠信的仆人！你既在小许事上忠信，我必委派你管理许多大事：进入你主人的福乐吧！随后，那领了一个‘塔冷通’的也前来说：主啊！我原知道你是个刻薄的人，在你没有下种的地方收割，在你没有散布的地方聚敛。因为我害怕，所以我去把你的‘塔冷通』藏在地下；看，你的仍还给你。主人回答说：可恶懒惰的仆人！你既知道：我在没有下种的地方收割，在没有散布的地方聚敛；那么你就该把我的银子，交给钱庄里的人，待我回来时，把我的连本带利取回。所以，你们把这个‘塔冷通’从他手中夺过来，给那有了十个‘塔冷通’的，因为凡是有的，还要给他，叫他富裕；那没有的，连他所有的，也要由他手中夺去。至于这无用的仆人，你们把他丢在外面的黑暗中，在那里必有哀号和切齿。”
Gospel
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 25:14-30
Jesus told his disciples this parable:
“A man going on a journey
called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them.
To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one–
to each according to his ability.
Then he went away.
Immediately the one who received five talents went and traded with them,
and made another five.
Likewise, the one who received two made another two.
But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground
and buried his master’s money.
After a long time
the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them.
The one who had received five talents
came forward bringing the additional five.
He said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents.
See, I have made five more.’
His master said to him, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.
Since you were faithful in small matters,
I will give you great responsibilities.
Come, share your master’s joy.’
Then the one who had received two talents also came forward and said,
‘Master, you gave me two talents.
See, I have made two more.’
His master said to him, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.
Since you were faithful in small matters,
I will give you great responsibilities.
Come, share your master’s joy.’
Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said,
‘Master, I knew you were a demanding person,
harvesting where you did not plant
and gathering where you did not scatter;
so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground.
Here it is back.’
His master said to him in reply, ‘You wicked, lazy servant!
So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant
and gather where I did not scatter?
Should you not then have put my money in the bank
so that I could have got it back with interest on my return?
Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten.
For to everyone who has,
more will be given and he will grow rich;
but from the one who has not,
even what he has will be taken away.
And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'”
