恭读宗徒大事录 6:8-10; 7:54-60
斯德望充满恩宠和德能，在百姓中显大奇迹，行大征兆。当时，有些称为“自由人”会堂中的人，以及基勒乃和亚历山大里亚人的会堂的人，还有些属基里基雅和亚细亚会堂的人，起来同斯德望辩论；但是他们敌不住他的智慧，因为他是借圣神说话。
他们一听这些话，怒从心起，向他咬牙切齿。斯德望却充满了圣神，注目向天，看见天主的光荣，并看见耶稣站在天主右边，遂说道：“看，我见天开了，并见人子站在天主右边。”他们都大声乱嚷，掩着自己的耳朵一致向他扑去，把他拉出城外，用石头砸死了。证人脱下自己的衣服放在名叫扫禄的青年人脚前。当他们用石头砸斯德望的时候，他祈求说：“主耶稣！接我的灵魂去吧！”遂屈膝跪下，大声呼喊说：“主，不要向他们算这罪债！”说了这话，就死了。
Reading 1
A reading from the Book of the Acts of the Apostles 6:8-10; 7:54-60
Stephen, filled with grace and power,
was working great wonders and signs among the people.
Certain members of the so-called Synagogue of Freedmen,
Cyrenians, and Alexandrians,
and people from Cilicia and Asia,
came forward and debated with Stephen,
but they could not withstand the wisdom and the spirit with which he spoke.
When they heard this, they were infuriated,
and they ground their teeth at him.
But he, filled with the Holy Spirit,
looked up intently to heaven
and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,
and he said,
“Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man
standing at the right hand of God.”
But they cried out in a loud voice, covered their ears,
and rushed upon him together.
They threw him out of the city, and began to stone him.
The witnesses laid down their cloaks
at the feet of a young man named Saul.
As they were stoning Stephen, he called out
“Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

那时候，耶稣对他的门徒说：“你们要提防世人，因为他们要把你们交给公议会，要在他们的会堂里鞭打你们；并且你们要为我的缘故，被带到总督和君王前，对他们和外邦人作证。当人把你们交出时，你们不要思虑：怎么说，或说什么，因为在那时刻，自会赐给你们应说什么。因为说话的不是你们，而是你们父的圣神在你们内说话。兄弟要将兄弟，父亲要将儿子置于死地，儿女也要起来反对父母，要将他们害死。你们为了我的名字，要为众人所恼恨；唯独坚持到底的，才可得救。”

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 10:17-22
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Beware of men, for they will hand you over to courts
and scourge you in their synagogues,
and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake
as a witness before them and the pagans.
When they hand you over,
do not worry about how you are to speak
or what you are to say.
You will be given at that moment what you are to say.
For it will not be you who speak
but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Brother will hand over brother to death,
and the father his child;
children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name,
but whoever endures to the end will be saved.”
