恭读圣保禄宗徒致格林多人前书 1:17-25
弟兄们：原来基督派遣我，不是为施洗，而是为宣传福音，且不用巧妙的言辞，免得基督的十字架失去效力。
原来十字架的道理，为丧亡的人是愚妄，为我们得救的人，却是天主的德能，因为经上记载：“我要摧毁智者的智慧，废除贤者的聪明。”智者在那里？经师在那里？这世代的诡辩者又在那里？天主岂不是使这世上的智慧变成了愚妄吗？因为世人没有凭自己的智慧，认识天主，天主遂以自己的智慧，决意以愚妄的道理来拯救那些相信的人。的确，犹太人要求的是神迹，希腊人寻求的是智慧，而我们所宣讲的，却是被钉在十字架上的基督：这为犹太人固然是绊脚石，为外邦人是愚妄，但为那些蒙召的，不拘是犹太人或希腊人，基督却是天主的德能和天主的智慧：因为天主的愚妄总比人明智，天主的懦弱也总比人坚强。
Reading 1
A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians 1:17-25
Brothers and sisters:
Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the Gospel,
and not with the wisdom of human eloquence,
so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its meaning.
The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
For it is written:
I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
and the learning of the learned I will set aside.
Where is the wise one?
Where is the scribe?
Where is the debater of this age?
Has not God made the wisdom of the world foolish?
For since in the wisdom of God
the world did not come to know God through wisdom,
it was the will of God through the foolishness of the proclamation
to save those who have faith.
For Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,
but we proclaim Christ crucified,
a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
but to those who are called, Jews and Greeks alike,
Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom,
and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

恭读圣玛窦福音 25:1-13
那时候，耶稣对他的门徒说：“天国好比十个童女，拿着自己的灯出去迎接新郎。她们中五个是糊涂的，五个是明智的。糊涂的拿了灯，却没有随身带油；而明智的拿了灯，并且在壶里带了油。因为新郎迟延，她们都打盹睡着了。半夜有人喊说：新郎来了，你们出来迎接吧！那些童女遂都起来，装备她们的灯。糊涂的对明智的说：把你们的油分些给我们吧！因为我们的灯快要灭了！明智的答说：怕为我们和你们都不够，你们更好到卖油的地方去，为自己买吧！她们去买的时候，新郎到了；那准备好了的，就同他进去，共赴婚宴；门遂关上了。末后，其余的童女也来了，说：主啊！主啊！给我们开门吧！他却答说：我实在告诉你们：我不认识你们。所以你们该醒寤，因为你们不知道那日子，也不知道那时辰。”
Gospel
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 25:1-13
Jesus told his disciples this parable:
“The Kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins
who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
The foolish ones, when taking their lamps,
brought no oil with them,
but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps.
Since the bridegroom was long delayed,
they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
At midnight, there was a cry,
‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.
The foolish ones said to the wise,
‘Give us some of your oil,
for our lamps are going out.’
But the wise ones replied,
‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you.
Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’
While they went off to buy it,
the bridegroom came
and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him.
Then the door was locked.
Afterwards the other virgins came and said,
‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’
But he said in reply,
‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’
Therefore, stay awake,
for you know neither the day nor the hour.”
