恭读德训篇 48:1-4, 9-11
当时，兴起了一位激烈如火的先知厄里亚，他的言辞炽热如火炬。他使人民遭遇饥荒，因他嫉恶如仇，使人民的数目大减，他因上主的一句话，关闭了苍天；同样，他也三次使火下降。啊，厄里亚！因你的奇迹，你是多么荣耀！谁能自夸与你相似？你乘着火马车，被火旋风卷去；你受命随时备妥，为在上主发怒以前，平息上主的义怒，为使父亲的心转向儿子，为使雅各伯的各支派恢复旧观。看见你的人，和安眠于爱的人，是有福的！
Reading 1
A reading from the book of Sirach 48:1-4, 9-11
In those days,
like a fire there appeared the prophet Elijah
whose words were as a flaming furnace.
Their staff of bread he shattered,
in his zeal he reduced them to straits;
By the Lord’s word he shut up the heavens
and three times brought down fire.
How awesome are you, Elijah, in your wondrous deeds!
Whose glory is equal to yours?
You were taken aloft in a whirlwind of fire,
in a chariot with fiery horses.
You were destined, it is written, in time to come
to put an end to wrath before the day of the LORD,
To turn back the hearts of fathers toward their sons,
and to re-establish the tribes of Jacob.
Blessed is he who shall have seen you
and who falls asleep in your friendship.
福音
恭读圣玛窦福音 17:10-13
众门徒从山上下来时，便问耶稣说：“那么，为什么经师说：厄里亚应该先来呢？”耶稣回答说：“厄里亚的确要来，且要重整一切；但我告诉你们；厄里亚已经来了，人们却不认识他，反而任意待了他；照样，人子也要受他们的磨难。”门徒这才明白耶稣给他们所说的，是指的洗者若翰。
Gospel
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 17:9a, 10-13
As they were coming down from the mountain,
the disciples asked Jesus,
“Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
He said in reply, “Elijah will indeed come and restore all things;
but I tell you that Elijah has already come,
and they did not recognize him but did to him whatever they pleased.
So also will the Son of Man suffer at their hands.”
Then the disciples understood
that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.
